“Therefore there is now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus.” Romans 8:1

Grace over Grind

Tuesday, July 14 2026 Ephesians 2:8-9 (NIV)

Have you ever felt like you are doing everything as you should and it still doesn’t feel like enough? Things like reading your bible, praying, going to church, Sunday school, bible studies, and you still feel like you aren’t good enough for God? Let me tell you, I’ve been there too.

In my personal experience, I have always felt I had to aim high in every aspect of my life to get approval from someone, especially in my relationship with God. Sometimes, I even think I have to work for my salvation. I know…silly, right? But it is a real struggle that I personally think doesn’t get enough light. Sometimes, I think I don’t work hard enough and I might lose my salvation. Wow. Does that hit a little close to home? Working and working but still feeling like you aren’t doing good enough for God? Thankfully, the Bible tells us differently.

Ephesians 2:8-9 (NIV) says “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.” Grace refers to God’s kindness and love extended to us, despite our sinfulness. And a gift, by definition, is something given freely, not needing to be earned or deserved. And you know what our salvation is? A gift. A gift from our glorious God. Not only does this verse emphasize that our salvation is not earned by works, it shows God’s unconditional love for his children.

I understand these thoughts of not being good enough and having to earn your salvation can often times be confusing and difficult to navigate. And while He already knows, just remember that God wants to hear from you through good times and bad. You never have to walk alone with Christ by your side. In Jesus holy name, Amen ❤
